National Disability Employment Awareness Month Film
Monday, November 23rd | 5:30-7:30pm | Location: Kresge 502
Murderball is the story of a group of world-class athletes unlike any ever shown on screen: quadriplegic rugby players. Whether by car accident or disease, these men live life sitting down but play the full-contact sport their own way—in custom-made wheelchairs, smashing the heck out of each other. In following the story of these athletes to the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece, smash every stereotype you ever had about disability. It is a film about family, revenge, honor, sex (yes, they can), and the triumph of love over loss. But most of all, it is a film about standing up, even after your spirit– and your spine—has been crushed. The most critically acclaimed documentary of 2005 for its refreshing, honest, and progressive portrayal of living with a severe disability, this is a film that will leave you laughing, inspired, and awed.
Light refreshments will be provided. FOR MORE INFORMATION, CONTACT: 617-384-5412 or diversity@hsph.harvard.edu
